The Store Wins Best Store Design
We were delighted to pick up the highly sought-after Best Store Design Award at Drapers Independent Awards in London this week. The ceremony, which was hosted by fashion business bible Drapers magazine, celebrated the best of the UK’s independent fashion retailers. It was attended by an impressive roll call of the UK’s leading independents including some of Scotland’s finest boutiques and businesses – Jane Davidson of Edinburgh and A Hume of Kelso.
The Restoration Yard Team on stage accepting Best New Store Design Award from the Drapers team
The judges who awarded our beautiful shop at Restoration Yard Best Store Design said of our store: “This beautiful bricks-and-mortar store is as visually appealing as its surroundings, making it a destination for customers from miles around. The store is light and bright, combining its rustic heritage with modern details.”
The Store has grown from an original concept by former Creative Director Amanda Pratt, who used her vast experience of creating the look and feel of Ireland’s hugely successful Avoca retail stores to vision The Store at Restoration Yard. This vision was that the stables could be transformed into a surprising and joyful shopping experience by using its unique elements. Building visually impactful and engaging displays to tell lifestyle stories is what made The Store at Restoration Yard so special from day one and Sisi Gibreel, head of retail, builds on this legacy every day.
Gibreel said after receiving the award on behalf of the retail team: “Winning this Best Store Design Award is such a delight. An old stableyard is not the most natural environment for a store because of its separate stalls and hay feeders. However, we use the stables’ quirks to create beautiful and inspirational lifestyle stories to engage our customers. To have our hard work recognised by our industry peers is astounding.”
We were also delighted to be shortlisted for Best Use of Social Media and Best Customer Experience at Drapers Independent Awards 2021. Hurrah.

The COOK Story
COOK was founded in 1997 by Edward Perry and Dale Penfold, who had, what felt like madness at the time, the idea of trying to cook and sell frozen ready meals that would be made like you would at home. From one small store in Farnham COOK has grown to a household name with 80 stores across the UK including franchises. Now COOK arrives in The Store at Restoration Yard.
