Online Mindfulness for Wellbeing: 8 Week Course

Wednesdays, 7pm - 8.30pm with Jen Wood

'The real meditation is how you live your life' - Jon Kabat-Zinn

We can all find ourselves living on automatic pilot, rarely stopping to really pay attention to what’s going on around us.

Mindfulness is like having a torch that illuminates what is going on in our life, giving us the opportunity to truly experience it. Living our life fully in the present moment can help us to thrive, rather than merely survive. This is not about numbing out or seeking to change the parts of ourselves which we don’t like, but about accepting ourselves exactly as we are right now.

We can spend time dwelling on the past which can cause us to feel depressed, or feeling anxious about the future, meaning that we miss the present moment. In Mindfulness, we return to the present moment and use our breath, which can be transformational.

The class is suitable for complete beginners and those who want to refresh their knowledge of Mindfulness techniques. We will follow the Mindfulness Association’s programme. The class will teach firstly the basics of the Mindfulness and Compassion Focused approach. You will also be introduced to the importance of self-practice.

This is an 8-week closed group, starting on 13th January 2021. Please note that if you are experiencing mental health problems, this group may not be the best place for you to start. Please contact Jen to discuss your situation. The class will be delivered via Zoom. Mindfulness lends itself very well to this method, and it will encourage you to develop a home practice.
