Relax, Release and Restore: For Back, Hips and Legs
Step away from the hustle bustle of daily life for 2.5 hours of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Our body ultimately knows how to support and balance itself, but there are times when we get out of kilter. Stiff achy muscles from an active or more sedentary lifestyle hunched over a computer, and stress can affect our body and mind negatively causing tension, inflammation and pain. The purpose of this workshop is to reset the body back to its optimal state and return to our equilibrium.
We will open with a short mindfulness meditation to prepare the body for deep relaxation. This will be followed with Yin Yoga and Myofascial Release techniques to support the body in releasing tension, and further relaxing the body and mind.
Yin Yoga is the practice of holding floor-based poses for a longer period of time, to hydrate the connective tissue, still a busy mind through introspection, downregulate the nervous system and improve passive range of motion. The practice of Yin Yoga allows us to pay attention, and notice sensations in the body helping us to let go of accumulated tension.
Myofascial Release techniques hydrate the connective tissue, which is really important as we age because we lose the elasticity in the tissue. Myofascial release breaks down scar tissue and adhesions, improving tissue health and range of movement. The Myofascial Release techniques will help to improves blood and lymphatic circulation. We will use tennis balls and other props to release the Myofascial tissue.
This workshop is suitable for anyone, including people with injuries. There will be modifications and props to support you. All props will be provided, however if you have a couple of tennis balls or Trigger point release balls (as long as they are not the spikey balls) feel free to bring yours with you.
